Privacy Policy

TippingMates ("TippingMates", "we", "us") is an Australian-based, free social footy-tipping service. We respect your privacy and handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

1. What we collect

Right now (waitlist): when you join our waitlist we collect your email address, and basic technical information your browser sends (such as approximate time of submission).

When the app launches, and only if you choose to create an account, we expect to collect:

• Your email address and display name;
• Confirmation that you meet our minimum age (see section 6) via an age check at sign-up;
• Your tips, predictions and results within the comps you join;
• An optional profile photo (initials are used by default);
• A device notification token, if you turn on notifications.

We practise data minimisation (APP 3) — we collect only what we need to run the game.

2. Why we collect it

• To let you know when comps open and to run the tipping service you asked for;
• To operate comps — recording tips, scoring rounds and showing ladders;
• To send you service messages (and, only with your consent, occasional product updates);
• To keep the service secure and prevent misuse.

We will give you a short collection notice at the point we collect information in the app (APP 5).

3. How we store and protect it

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access (APP 11), including access controls and encryption in transit. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to hold your data safely and to delete or de-identify it when it is no longer needed.

4. Disclosure and overseas handling

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run TippingMates (for example, hosting, email delivery and, at launch, app-store and notification providers), and only as needed to provide the service, or where required by law.

Some of these providers may store or process data outside Australia (APP 8). Where that happens we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is handled consistently with the APPs, and we will name the relevant categories of providers and locations in the final policy once our hosting and processors are confirmed.

5. Accessing, correcting and deleting your information

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you and request that we correct it (APP 12/13). Once the app is live, you will be able to edit your profile and delete your account, which removes or de-identifies your personal information. To make a waitlist request now — including asking us to remove your email — email hello@tippingmates.appate.com.au.

6. Minimum age

TippingMates is intended for people aged 16 and over. We are not a gambling service — there is no money, no stake and no odds — but we apply an age check at sign-up and take care with the information of younger users. If you believe someone under 16 has provided us personal information, contact us and we will remove it.

7. Cookies and analytics

This website is deliberately light. We do not use advertising trackers. If we add basic, privacy-respecting analytics we will update this policy to say so.

8. Complaints

If you have a privacy concern, please contact us first at hello@tippingmates.appate.com.au and we will work to resolve it. You also have the right to complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.

9. Changes to this policy

We will update this policy as TippingMates develops and before launch. When we make material changes we will update the date above and, where appropriate, let you know.
